
MEET THE THERAPIST
Heather graduated from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, with a Master's degree in speech-language pathology. After graduation, she worked in skilled nursing and outpatient rehabilitation.
Heather has completed the Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) certification and the Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification. Heather is passionate about working with adults who have dementia and those who have had a Traumatic Brain Injury (including mTBI/ concussion).
When Heather isn't devoting time to providing highly-skilled therapy services, she enjoys reading (sometimes about speech and language pathology) and spending time with her husband and children.
HOW TO GET STARTED

CONSULTATION
Complete a 15 minute phone consultation to determine if Mindful Speech Therapy is a proper fit for you or your loved one and vice versa.
02/
EVALUATION
Intake paperwork, standardized tests, informal measures, caregiver report, and medical record review will be completed to set functional goals and develop an appropriate plan of care.
03/
TREATMENT
You/your loved one's goals will be targeted with compensatory strategies and environmental modifications.
MOST COMMON SERVICES

Evaluation
Intake paperwork, standardized testing, patient-reported outcome measures, and functional goal-setting are completed to guide treatment.
Treatment
Treatment sessions occur regularly (at least once/week) and may consist of targeting goals by training for compensatory strategies, environmental modifications for the patient and/or caregiver and education.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Evaluation Only
Intake paperwork, standardized/informal testing (for cognitive performance) and caregiver input are completed. Goal-setting is optional.
Caregiver Consultation
Designed most specifically for those with a dementia diagnosis (including the three most common: Alzheimer's, Vascular and Lewy Body), a caregiver consultation is for anyone who helps manage the care of a person with a dementia diagnosis.

A caregiver consultation may include:
- Education about the specific form/type of dementia
- Communicative strategies/recommendations for improved conversations
- Progression of dementia, especially as it relates to communication
- Local resources
- Ideas/recommendations for maintaining independence for as long as possible
